Project challenge

Heritage-style homes require windows and doors with traditional proportions, divided lites and timber interiors, often to satisfy design review or conservation guidelines. Owners also expect modern energy performance, security and low maintenance, which traditional single-glazed timber windows cannot provide. Timber must remain stable through ocean shipping and seasonal humidity changes, the exterior must withstand weather without frequent repainting, and details must suit both new construction and renovation openings.

Our solution

The package uses aluminum-clad wood French casement windows with simulated divided lites, providing traditional proportions with insulating glass. The timber interior, in species such as red oak, white oak or pine, is factory finished in a stain or paint to suit the interior design. The aluminum exterior is powder coated in a heritage color.

French doors and clad wood lift & slide or sliding patio doors connect living rooms to gardens. Colonial-style casement windows suit historic renovations. Glass is tempered insulating glass with Low-E, with triple glazing available for colder climates. We confirm muntin profiles, divided-lite patterns and colors on samples before production, and provide installation details suited to the wall construction, including renovation conditions. Where design review applies, our shop drawings can support the submission.

FAQ

Can clad wood windows match historic window proportions?

Yes. Sash proportions, divided-lite patterns and muntin profiles can be customized to match historic designs while using insulating glass. We confirm these details on samples and shop drawings, which can also support design review submissions where required.

Which wood species are available for the interior?

Our clad wood and wood ranges use species including pine, larch, red oak, white oak and teak, with others on request. The species choice mainly affects appearance and stability, since the aluminum cladding protects the timber from the weather.
