Project challenge
Cold-climate homes need low whole-unit U-factors, high condensation resistance and airtight frames to meet energy codes and keep occupants comfortable near large glass. Long winters and freeze-thaw cycles stress gaskets, hardware and drainage. Canadian projects typically require window performance documented to NAFS with the Canadian Supplement and energy ratings in SI units, and installers may be more familiar with outswing casements than inward-opening European tilt and turn windows.
Our solution
The package uses thermal break aluminum tilt and turn windows with triple glazing, Low-E coatings and argon fill on main living and bedroom elevations. Tilt and turn provides secure winter ventilation without opening the sash fully, and all glass can be cleaned from inside on upper floors. Where interior clearance is limited or local preference favors outward opening, slim outswing windows designed for cold climates are offered as an alternative.
Large openings use thermally broken lift & slide doors with triple glazed Low-E glass and compression seals. Entry doors use triple glazed inserts and insulated panels. Warm-edge spacers and multi-chamber profiles with interior and exterior EPDM sealing improve frame and edge temperatures. We confirm whole-unit ratings for each configuration against the applicable code and provide installation details for the wall assembly, including bracket or fin options.

How the order runs
Energy targets
We confirm the U-factor, condensation and air leakage targets for your climate zone and code, in both imperial and SI units.
Opening strategy
We assign tilt and turn, outswing or fixed units to each opening based on clearance, egress, screens and ventilation needs.
Detailing
Shop drawings show thermal breaks, glass make-up, sill drainage and installation brackets or fins for the wall assembly.
Production QC
Hardware, gaskets, glass labels and sash adjustment are checked, and each unit is cycled before packing.
Delivery
Units are crated for winter freight and labeled by room; installation guidance and spare parts support follow delivery.

FAQ
Is triple glazing necessary for homes in Canada?
In most Canadian climate zones it is strongly recommended and increasingly required to meet energy targets, particularly for large windows. It lowers heat loss and raises interior glass temperature, reducing condensation. Confirm the required whole-unit values for your zone with your energy advisor.
Do tilt and turn windows work with Canadian installation practices?
Yes. They can be supplied with installation brackets or adapted for local methods, and their inward opening simplifies cleaning upper-floor windows. Installers should review the sill drainage and air barrier details we provide on shop drawings before the first unit is installed.
